A Manual Approach to the Brain - Part 2: Language, Cognition & Sensory Systems
This session focuses on human language and the ability to have conversations. Jean-Pierre Barral begins with a conceptual discussion of the ability to read, write, count, and calculate. These theoretical aspects are followed by descriptions and demonstrations of the relevant manual applications.
An essential part of these videos explains how the practitioner can use touch to localize the areas of the brain that are active when the client speaks or counts. Barral makes it clear that the precise localization of these conflicted areas is crucial for any manual intervention. Several tests are introduced to help identify areas involved in cases of speech difficulties and problems with counting and calculation. These tests are followed by demonstrations of treatments for various dysfunctions in the fields of speech and numerical processing. The videos also include a follow-up section on the pain circuit, the sensory system, and challenges related to hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity.
